Sadly we've had to cancel our visit to Coventry Cathedral (24-25 October).

We will update you on our next visit - Gloucester Cathedral, 02-03 January 2021 - as soon as possible.

Heading: Good news - the return of singing in church

Hello everyone

Many of you will have already seen that the guidance on singing in church changed this week. Now, with certain measures in place, voluntary choirs like us are able to sing in church services.

The restrictions are quite onerous and will require some adjustments, but it is a positive step. We do have the benefit that we sing in large buildings where distancing is easier and for cathedrals who have been determined to work out the logistics already for their own choirs.

This does not mean that our next visit will definitely go ahead, nor if it does that it will work in the same way, however, it is a step in the right direction and we should all be pleased about that.

Rest assured we will take all recommended precautions to protect your health and well-being on every future visit, but we do understand that some of you may not feel comfortable returning just yet.

We'll keep you updated as information becomes available. I look forward to singing with you again soon.

Many thanks

Ed

We take the health and wellbeing of our members very seriously. On 17 March 2020, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York advised that public worship should be suspended until further notice.

Guidance from the Church of England.

St Paul's Cathedral, 25th May

Our first scheduled visit after lockdown was to St Paul's Cathedral on 25 May. This was cancelled shortly after the lockdown was announced.

Summer residency at Norwich Cathedral, 3rd-9th August

Sadly, we have to cancel our summer residency to Norwich Cathedral. This will be the first year since its creation that the choir has not met for a week in the summer. Realistically, although churches may be open and public worship restarted by the time of our visit, it is unlikely that singing as part of services (indeed singing indoors) will be permitted for some time.

Members who had already paid their deposits should contact John directly, or through secretary@harsnettchoir.org to arrange a refund.

The choir's social side and its sense of community has always been an important part of the choir. The committee is looking into ways that we can hold a social gathering of some sort during the first week in August when we would have been singing together. More information will follow.

Further ahead

The committee is continuing to plan for all of our future visits. Should any of these have to be cancelled, all members of the choir who had expressed an interested in the visit will be informed. This will take place on a visit by visit basis. We thank you for your patience.
